All the writing—
It took years for me to begin describing myself as a journalist. I landed a job at The Old Globe theatre straight out of college where people comfortably played around with language as a tool, followed by several marketing positions before I explored web design and launched several blogs.
Like many creatives, I did some ghostwriting, rewrote people’s resumes, crafted marketing copy— I wrote for a living— but it wasn’t until I grew into Staff Writer for three local papers that I called myself a journalist. I genuinely enjoyed presenting facts in a way that moves people to consider the significance of an annual homeless count on funding or what will happen if we allow censorship to creep into schools or why poll numbers matter to the community.
I was unexpectedly laid off from my role as Staff Writer in 2023 due to budget cuts and with the formidable ghost of future mortgage payments lurking over me, I revisited the rough draft of a book I’d started several years earlier.
I still consider myself a successful journalist but the return to freelance writing and is exciting because there are so many people out there who could use a good writer in their back business pocket. More significantly, I am currently finishing a middle-readers book featuring a smart boy who finds himself fighting an unconventional D-Rgn.
Through it all, I’ve kept up with freelance writing and editing, and my pen is still available to hire. Are you in the beginning stages of conceptualizing a book? Or, perhaps you need a smart storyteller or a freelancer who consistently crafts intelligent copy-?

Let’s talk. Let’s write.

Here Be Dragons
I’m so looking forward to releasing my first novel. These characters have been waiting to go out into the world since I first met (and temporarily abandoned) them in 2016. Keep an eye out for Here Be Dragons, a middle reader book dedicated to a young man who once insisted “there needs to be more books about dragons”. Coming soon…
